Nelson is the Head of Biomedical R&D at Palantir, an enterprise software company that empowers organizations to turn data into their most powerful asset. Nelson’s interest in the intersection of healthcare and data began at the National Institutes of Health, where his joint team exponentially reduced the delivery time of experimental data, identified novel and synergistic drug combinations, and improved the predictive ability of machine learning models.
Today, Nelson leads the Biomedical R&D division that works with pharmaceutical companies, cancer centers, the Food & Drug Administration, and the National Institutes of Health to unlock the value of data within their own organizations and remove the barriers to collaboration without compromising security and data privacy. Previously, Nelson served eight years in the U.S. Army where he led multiple combat units in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and built an Arctic Airborne Reconnaissance Company in Alaska.
